Hint: Xbox Live Unlockables

If you have a pair of Xbox Live accounts, you can try this technique. If one account is of a lower rank than the other, you can give the lower account an instant power-up when using both accounts to play. When you unlock something at the end of the game (such as the Overkill Perk), immediately log out of your account and sign into the lesser account. Head to the Xbox Live game lobby and press Y, and the game will have unlocked for this particular account whatever you unlocked with the first account.
Hint: Intel Pieces

Below is the level distribution list for Intel Pieces, which are enemy laptops full of information strewn throughout the game. There are thirty of them total. The left column is the level in question, while the right column is how many Intel Pieces can be found on that level. Levels with no Intel Pieces are excluded completely.

How to find: In the area where you rescue Sarge, behind the prison cell is a large ledge. Got to the far right side and jump on the boxes, then onto the pipes to get up on the ledge, goto the far end of the ledge, turning two corners the skull is at the far end.
*
Tough Luck Skull

Effect: Enemies do saving throws

Where to find: Tsavo Highway

On Tsavo Highway, about halfway through the mission (right after you are forced to walk through a large blue barrier), you will come out of a tunnel on the highway, and see a large pipeline on your left. Drop down in between the two, and run to the wall in front of you. Follow the wall all the way to where it connects with the cliff on your right, and turn to the left. There should be a few ledges--simply crouch jump from ledge to ledge, and the last one should have the "Tough Luck" skull on it.
*
Mythic Skull

Effect: Every enemy on the field now has double their normal amount of health.

Where to find: Halo

How to find: As soon as the mission starts walk up the hill in front of you and into the cave. Hug the right side of the cave and after a large boulder you will see a path on your right, just take the short path and it will be at the end.

*
Cowbell Skull

Effect: Explosive force increased (sputnik from H2)

Level: The Ark

Location: First pick up a grav lift from the small building near where you fight the scarab. Now proceed through the level until you reach the second sloping hallway (stairway), you should see some partitioned risers (platforms) halfway down. The skull is on the top level. Toss the grav-lift on the right side of the hall so it lands on the fourth little green dot from the door. Then run, jump, and use the grav-lift to propel you to the top. You should reach a ckeckpoint just as you enter the room so it you miss just try again.
*
Thunderstorm Skull

Mission: The Covenant

Effect: "Field promotions for everyone!" -- Upgrades enemies to their stronger versions.

After you shut down tower 1 and get access to the hornet, fly to tower 2 (the one the arbiter shut down). While walking up the stairs, go to the middle part that connects both and there should be a stair leading up to a platform where the skull is.
*
The 7 Terminals

The Ark:

1. Start the mission and once you enter the first building take a left into another door and now you should be in a curved corridor. On the inside is a Terminal.
2. After activating the bridge to let your comrades accross the gap, do a 180 and you should see it. (it does not open until you activate the bridge)
3. In the third building after defeating the scarab, kill the group of sleeping covenant, then follow the corridor downwards. Once you reach a door in front that is locked, immediately on the left there's an open door. Go through and walk straight off, then do a 180 to find a secret room. It is in there.

The Covenant:

1. When in the first tower standing on the lift, face the access panel and turn left. Jump over and it's right there.
2. Land your hornet on the second tower, walk towards the entrance but when you see the locked door, do a 180. Should be right in front of you.
3. When in the third tower standing on the lift, face the access panel and turn right. Jump over and it's right there.

Halo:

1. After reaching the end of the first cave, hug the right wall and you will see a building. Jump up onto the walkway and hang a left once inside. It's right there.
*
Fog Skull

Mission: Floodgate

Effect: "You’ll miss those eyes in the back of your head." -- Your motion sensor disappears.

As you are walking down from the anti-air gun you destroyed in the previous mission, you encounter a ramp (next to a missile launcher). Around this ramp, you hit a checkpoint. At this point, you should also hear a marine yelling, “There! Over There!”. Look up and to the right, directly at the roof of the building next to the missle launcher. There is a single flood form (not to be mistaken with the two other flood forms jumping in front of you) which is holding the skull. Kill him before he jumps, and he will drop the skull down to the ground where you can retrieve it. Too early, and the skull will get stuck on the roof though, so just time it carefully.
*
Famine Skull

Mission: The Ark

Effect: "Trust us. Bring a magazine." -- Dropped weapons will have very little ammo compared to normal.

When you first go into the valley to the right after the wrecked phantom, look to your left where you will see a huge boulder. Use a ghost and get to the side of the boulder that is closest to the bridge overhead. It is easy to pilot the ghost up the side of the wall using the thrust. To get the skull, pilot 2 ghosts up the wall to the top of the bridge and stack them one on top of another next to the beam where the skull is placed. Simply jump from the top of the ghosts towards the skull and land on the beam.
*
Tilt Skull

Mission: Cortana

Effect: "What was once resistant is now immunity" -- Enemies have different body parts that may be resistance to certain bullet types

When in the circular type room with all the flood look for a small structure piece next to two archways, jump on top if it and up on the rocks to the top left, turn left and jump up again, then do a 180 and jump to the rocks across from you. After that follow the the rock sticking out and leading up on top of of the original circular room, the skull will be in a pile of blood.
*
IWHBYD Skull

Mission: The Covenant

Effect: "But the dog beat me over the fence" - Unlocks bonus dialogue throughout the game. For most, this is the last skull, so this gives you the Hayabusa Helmet as well.

To get this, get to the room where you "fight" the Prophet of Truth. Let the Arbiter kill him, turn around, and kill all the Flood here as well; makes it a LOT easier. With all obstacles out of the way, you need to jump through the Halo holograms here in a specific order, listed below:

4 6 5 4 5 3 4

When you jump through the final hologram, they all light up in a sequential pattern. The Skull will be at the end waiting for you right before the energy bridge leading to Truth's corpse.

*
Catch Skull

Effect: all enemies have 2 grenades, throw more grenades

Level: The Storm

Location: From the start, go through until you go outside again. When you go outside look straight across there is a small round building straight out there, the skull is on top. In order to get up there you can either use a warthog as a platform or grenade-jump. DO NOT destroy the wraith near the door or the skull will disappear.
*
Orbital Skull

Load up Orbital in forge mode, find the open area (the place with the two traffic cones and a pit you can fall down). In monitor mode (press up on the d-pad), fly all the way to the top and the skull is lying on a vent in one of the corners.
*
Assembly Skull

Load up Assembly in forge mode and go into monitor mode (press up on the d-pad). There are two "arms" attatched to the centre building. In monitor mode, fly up and into the small opening at the top of the arm (it's one of the two).
*
Sandbox Skull

In Sandbox, fly to the heighest possible point in the map. Look around till you can see the sun (not the "red light" on one side of the map) on the horizon, inbetween two Guardian towers. Turn right and face inbetween the next pair of Guardian towers (so the tower on the right of the sun is now the tower on the left). The skull is located outside of the map in this direction. If you are having trouble spotting it, try and use the zoom of a sniper rifle or beam rifle. There are several methods of obtaining the skull. You can use bubble shields, tube pieces and shield doors to form a tunnel, or you may fly over the skull and drop a teleporter exit so you can teleport to it directly. There are also several maps you can download on fileshare to gain easy access to the skull.
*
Longshore Skull

In forge mode, look for a red sign with a fish on it. It says "Fronks". Fly right up to it in monitor mode, then turn right. You should find an air vent. Fly over to it, and the skull should be at the bottom. Go higher then turn back into your character whilst holding the RB button to grab the skull on your fall down to the ground. Alternatively, use items as platforms to reach it.
*
Heretic Skull

In forge mode, fly to the top of the room in monitor mode. Go the platform with the sword on it. It’s shaped like a letter c or pacman. Turn right and fly over to the open room. Place a grav lift just before you enter it and jump, the skull is on a ledge just above the doorway, just in front of some vents.
*
Citadel Skull

In forge mode, fly around the map until you find the corridor with the overshield powerup (red). Go to the right side of the power-up (facing the power-up from the middle of the map) and stop just past the doorway. Turn around to face the power-up and stack up items (red and blue crates work best, usually about 3 or 4). Jump on top of the items and you should be able to grab the skull if you jump into the missing space on the ceiling.

Unlockable: Spirit Flute Songs
The Spirit Flute can be used to play songs for various effects at any time when you select it from the item menu (far right). Songs can be found throughout the dungeons, villages and other areas of Spirit Tracks. They reside in stones shaped like Rocket Ships (called "Air Stones"). When you tap these stones, the song will play and colored spheres showing the correct notes on the flute's scale will stream from the rocket stone. Take out your flute and play the song shown to memorize it. You can refer to songs in the Collection menu. Here is a list of the songs and their uses:
  • Song of Awakening // LIGHT BLUE, RED
    Location: The Forest Sanctuary
Learn this song in the western area of the Forest Sanctuary. The Song of Awakening wakes up the one-eyed, bunny-eared stone statues, called "Gossip Stones," found in the dark recesses of Hyrule. These statues provide Link with clues about treasure among other things.
  • Song of Healing // LIGHT GREEN, WHITE, LIGHT GREEN
    Location: The Forest Temple
The Air Stone with this tune is on the train platform at the beginning of the Forest Temple, Floor 1. You can use the Song of Healing to restore all of your hearts once in a dungeon. After using it, you must exit the dungeon before you can use it again.
  • Song of Birds // DARK BLUE, ORANGE, DARK BLUE
    Location: Papuchia Village
You'll be forced to learn this song on your quest for Carben, the Ocean Sage. The Song of Birds summons birds to your side. This works on cuccos, doves and the birds that carry grapple points for your whip in the southwest region of Papuchia Village and in the Ocean Sanctuary.
  • Song of Light // DARK BLUE, YELLOW, RED, LIGHT BLUE, WHITE
    Location: Trading Post
This Air Stone is sitting near Linebeck's grave in the northern portion of the Trading Post. The Song of Light makes diamond-shaped crystal objects glow and emit a ray of light. You'll have to use this to solve certain puzzles.
  • Song of Discovery // RED, YELLOW, RED, LIGHT BLUE
    Location: Anouki Village
An Air Stone in the center of Anouki Village holds this song. Play the Song of Discovery to reveal treasure chests and other things (like stairs) hidden in certain areas. Check circles of boulders, for instance, or the base of trees. Usually you'll have a clue about the location of the hidden object from a map or a bunny-eared Gossip Stone (see the Song of Awakening).

Often, when fighting big enemies with a huge HP bar, Stagger is indispensable. But a lot of times, it's hard to get the chain gauge started, especially on weaker enemies, because their Stagger goes back down to 100% very fast. The way to keep it going up takes a little practice, but will be very handy in finishing fights fast. First, it is necessary to make all of your party members go into commando or ravager (this is usually labeled Relentless Attack or something of the likes in the Paragdim menu). Then, go to auto-attack, and attack your desired enemy. Then, go auto-attack again, but instead of attacking right away, highlight the enemy, but do not push X. Wait until your other party members finish their attacks, and then launch yours. After that, keep attacking as fast as you can. This times your party's attacks so that there is a continuous stream of attacks as opposed to a lot of attacks at once. So whenever the chain starts to go down, another attack forces it to go up, thus stopping it from resetting to 100%. As the Chain Gauge gets higher, it takes longer to reset, so you can afford taking a bit of damage from other enemies. In Stagger, the enemy will often not move, but bigger foes will. What Stagger really does is knocks down all of the enemies defenses and makes them very vulnerable to any attack. The instant you get to the Stagger percentage, a big flash will announce Stagger, and your enemy will glow yellow. Any enemy that is Staggered will also have their name appear in a yellow capsule when you have to select a target for an attack as opposed to a blue one. When Stagger is activated, the Chain Gauge bar doubles as a timer. The bar is filled to start, and slowly depletes. When the bar is completely gone, Stagger has reset. And if the enemy survives until a Stagger reset, then that enemy must be strong, so take advantage of your Medic here (it is advantageous to have both Vanille and Hope as Medics) until your party's health is back up. Then go into Relentless Attack mode again, and achieve Stagger as soon as possible.

The Eidolons are probably one of the hardest opponents you'll come across, but the good news is, if you beat them, they'll join you as FF13's new summons. Here's how to beat the first two you'll come across.

*note* Each Eidolon fight is set to a certain amount of time portrayed above the character's head. You MUST complete the challenge in that time or you'll have to retry.

Shiva Sisters:

To beat the Shiva sisters, you should have the role "Sentinel" by now. When the Shiva sister leaves herself open, strike while you can. This won't raise her gestalt gauge much, but it will help a little at least.

Then, when you see her throw her hands out and her weapon spins above her head, active Sentinel now. Then, right when she goes to strike, use Guard (or whatever the ability is) to defend from her attack. This will cause the gauge to rise VERY noticeably. Continue this process with good timing, and you'll have the sisters as a your first summon.

Don't worry about the other sister watching the battle. She won't strike, but she will continuously heal you so you can't lose unless you fail to fill the gauge.

*note* Only Snow can summon the sisters, as each character has one summon specific to them.

Odin:

Odin was much easier than the Shiva sisters. All you have to do is make sure you have a paradigm with "Commando" and "Ravager", as he's weak against magic, which the Ravager uses. It wouldn't hurt to occasionally active a paradigm with "Medic" in it, but always make sure you switch back to Ravager as soon as necessary.

In this particular fight, it's okay to attack head on with the Commando, mostly due to your Ravager inflicting great damage with their magical attacks. Synchronize your attacks witht the Ravager just right, and you will claim victory of this Eidolon in just a few minutes at most.

*note* Odin can only be summoned by Lightning.

Entry Location:
In battle

While in battle you can get a quick full ATB bar by switching paradigms. You may utilize this for a quick combo while switching to a healing or support paradigm. But remember, it only works on the first switch. Don't keep switching hoping for full ATB gauges.

Eidolon Battles
Eidolon: SHIVA
Character: SNOW
Chapter: 03
Strategy: In order to impress Shiva, switch the Paradigm Shift to Sentinel. Have Snow use Steel Guard all the time and wait for the Gestalt Meter to fill up. Don’t worry about your health because Striria (Sister of Nix) will heal you.

Eidolon - ODIN
Character: LIGHTNING
Chapter: 04
Strategy: This is one of the hardest fights you will encounter so far as Odin is fast and deadly. Before entering the battle, make sure that you changed your Battle Speed under Settings to Slow. The key to fill up the Gestalt Meter fast is when Odin sees a lot of healing and chaining up your attacks. Start off with Hope casting Protect and Shell then change the Paradigm Shift to Dual Casting allowing both Lightning and Hope cast magics. When you see one of your characters HP is low, switch to Yin & Yang Paradigm to allow Hope heal Lightning while she’s still attacking with a magic.

Eidolon: BRYNHILDR
Character: SAHZ
Chapter: 08
Strategy: Start off by having the characters switch their Paradigm to Saboteur and Synergiest. Have either of the two cast Vigilance and Haste. If the HP runs low on either of the characters, change the Paradigm to War & Peace to have one of the characters use Cura or Cure. The main key to this battle is to chain up the Chain Gauge. Do it by always focusing on Dual Casting Paradigm to have both characters attack with magic (Ravager).

Eidolan: BAHAMUT
Character: Fang
Chapter: 10
Strategy: Making a pact with Bahamut is a very challenging one as it attacks rampantly. Focus on the health of your party. I suggest to have someone in your party cast Shell and Protect to lessen the damage that you get from Bahamut. Start off by debuffing Bahamut. Have one of your party be a Sentinel (preferably Fang) and the two becomes a Ravager. Keep on attacking Bahamut until the Gestalt Gault fills up

Eidolon: ALEXANDER
Character: Hope
Chapter: 11
Strategy: Make sure Hope has a lot of HP by this time as he will be the Party leader. Start off the battle with Alexander by shifting to Delta Attack Paradigm. Have Fang be the Sentinel while Hope and Lightning do the attack. When you see the party’s HP drop significantly, switch to Combat Clinic Paradigm to do the healing. Keep on doing it this until the Gestalt Meter fills up.

Eidolon: HECATONCHEIR
Character: Vanille
Chapter: 11
Strategy: With only Vanille and Fang fighting this Eidolon Battle, it can be tough. Start off the fight by having Vanille be the Ravanger and Fang be the Sentinel. Keep attacking Hecatoncheir with Vanille’s Magic and watch his Chain Gauge goes up. When the HP runs low, change to a Medic Paradigm and have Vanille heal and switch back to the first strategy. Keep on doing this and the Gestalt Meter will go up

This fantastic cheat will get you 99 lives easily -- you can always return for more! Go to the Supermassive Galaxy in World 4 and choose the first Star challenge. Play through the level until you get to the hockey puck-shaped planet with three supermassive Koopa turtles patrolling it. DO NOT grab the Spin Drill -- you'll have to get hit to lose it if you do! Run up behind a Koopa and long-jump (press Z while running and then press JUMP) onto its back. You need to long-jump from about a turtle-shell-length behind it to catch the "sweet spot." Continue to hold the analog stick to the RIGHT and hold JUMP to continually bounce off the Koopa's shell. If you fall off or hit the head, try again. If you hold these buttons you should be able to maintain momentum while constantly bouncing on the shell. After a few bounces you'll rack up 1-Ups for each hit.

To reduce the amount of money required to open the Malo-Mart in castle town and be able to purchase the magic amor. Donate 1000 rupees to repair the bridge to the west gate to castle town to the goron inside the Malo-Mart in Kakariko Village.
Then talk to the old goron outside the Malo-Mart. He will send you on a quest to deliver some hot spring water to the goron sitting beside the bridge outside the west gate to castle town. To easily complete this quest. Simply walk along the edge of the cliff until you reach the bridge. Then smash the barrel of hot spring water on the sitting goron's head.
After you have done this go back to Kakariko Village and talk to the goron collecting donations inside the Malo-Mart. He will have lowered the required amount to 200. After donating 200 rupees a Malo Mart will open in Castle Town and the magic armor will be available to buy.
    Hint: Peas On You
Bottled water can be poured on growing fruits/vegetables to make them increase in size.

    Hint: Rare Chu Location!
On the path from Kakariko Village to Death Mountain, there's a little cave in the wall with vines hanging from it that can be grabbed with the clawshot. Use the clawshot to pull yourself up, and inside is a rare chu. If you are quick to kill it before it merges with the more common purple chu, you can get yourself some rare chu jelly which behave like Great Fairy Tears (the stuff the topless fairy gives Link that restores all life and enhances attack for a short while).

Hint: Hidden Moves and Commands (a.k.a., the Don_Chan)
There are some hidden moves not covered in the manual or the game tutorials.
    1. you can execute a rolling stab by rolling, then quickly slashing with your sword. This move knocks enemies back and allows you to finish them quickly with the ending blow.
    2. To quickly dismount hold Z then press A. you flip off the back of your horse and quickly dismount. This is great when you need to quickly take care of enemies on the ground.

    Hint: Bird Killer
If you want to make some easy money while traveling Hyrule field, take down the flocks of birds. The Gale Boomerang and Z-Targeting lets you drag them close to be killed by a sword strike. Clearing the flock will cause a reward of about 50 rupee to drop from the sky.

    Hint: Balloon Popping
At Lake Hylia, you can play a fruit balloon popping game as a wolf (speak to the bird near the lake cannon) for a heart piece. Simply go for the 10K high score by popping only strawberry balloons and ignoring the other larger balloons in the way. You should be able to scrape by the 10K mark right before the end of the course.

    Easter Egg: Cuccoo Polymorph
Instead of attacking Link for striking cucco (chickens) too many times, you are temporarily polymorphed into one for continued cucco harassment.
    Hint: 200 Rupee Stash
In Kakariko, there's a 200 rupee stash on top of the Sanctuary (in the bell). Take a cucco (chicken) and head up the dirt ramp at the south end of the town. Glide and climb your side of the town until you arrive at the hot spring.

Glide across the street to the bomb shop's roof and climb the ramps to the base of the watchtower (a Goron will be on watch at the bottom, the kid on the top).

From the Goron spotter's area, glide to the scaffolding embedded in the cliffside near the Sanctuary. Glide to the wrecked roof of the Sanctuary and use a bomb-arrow to down the glint inside the church bell.

Like most rupee chests, this is a non-regenerative reward. Submitted by Jill2Shay
    Hint: Spring Water
After donating 1000 rupees to Malo mart to repair the bridge talk to the Goron elder outside. He'll then ask you to deliver some hot spring water to the goron waiting next to the newly repaired bridge. To avoid the barrel of water getting hit walk round next to the cliffside on your right. You may need to take out one or two moblins this way so just pick them off with your bow and make sure you're quick.
After smashing the barrel over the goron's head he'll give you a piece of heart and he'll open up a hot spring water shop in castle town use this water to quench the goron at the south entrance and he'll unblock the boulders on that route.

    Hint: 3rd Dungeon Skip
In the third dungeon (the lakebed temple) you can skip a large section. Once you have the clawshot go to the room with the rotating staircase, the water should be flowing on one side normally you would then go to the other side and get that water flowing but instead use the clawshot and go up on the chandelier. Once there slowly drop yourself off the side so that you are hanging by your hands from it, then let go. You will have landed on the center pillar and will be able to go on to the boss through the door.

In a depature from past Zelda games, slashing repeatedly at chickens will not lead to a mad chicken attack. Instead, the player gains control of the chicken for a limited time.
    Hint: Bomb Shop
Go to the Bomb Shop in Kakariko. While inside, light your lantern to receive a warning from the shop keeper. Do it again for a little surprise.
Hint: Quick Money in Kakariko Graveyard
Strapped for cash? Grab your lantern and head on over to Kakariko Graveyard. There you will see two unlit torches. Take out that Lantern (it needs to have some oil left in it) and light the torches. A chest will appear with 50 rupees. Still not enough? Then push both of the pushable gravestones. One will have a yellow rupee piece, which accounts for 10 rupees. Enjoy!
